Newcastle 1 Chelsea 0 match review

Chelsea suffer a late blow against Newcastle at the ST James Park Stadium on Saturday. Chelsea despite their domination failed to score a single goal against the Magpies. The visitors dominated the game in terms of possession having 70% of the ball and had 19 shots on target. Newcastle were offered numerous chances by Chelsea. The home team should have scored a goal pretty early in the game after a brilliant cross from Krafth was headed by Joelinton with power to hit the crossbar.                                       Chelsea had their fair share of opportunities in the game but failed to score. A cross from Willian was intelligently flicked by Tammy who managed to beat the keeper but his effort flicked the crossbar. Chelsea did get plenty of opportunities in the second half as well but failed to convert a single one of them into a goal. Chelsea yet again paid the price for their lack of creativity and failing to convert their shots into goals. A game they dominated with the ball e

Chelsea 3 Burnley 0 match review

Chelsea ended their poor home run in the Premier league with a comprehensive win over Burnley on Saturday. It seems like Chelsea have finally come out of their poor home form dilemma with back to back wins at the Stamford Bridge.                                                     Chelsea secured all 3 points and also managed to keep a clean sheet which has been a rare outline in their recent home games. The road was bumpy but Chelsea somehow managed to see Burnley off without conceding a goal . The visitors started of well initially and did find the back of the net only to be ruled out by the VAR. Burnley did get the better of Chelsea defenders from a set piece but it was Ben Mee who was marginally offside when he nodded the ball for Hendricks form McNeil's free kick. Chelsea dominated the game ever since and dint look  as they took the lead minutes later after a silly foul from Lowton lead to Chelsea penalty which was slotted into the goal by Jorginho in his trademark style c

Chelsea 2 Nottingham Forest 0 match review

A Stellar performance from Chelsea young guns led them to an impressive win against Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round of FA cup. Chelsea players wore a stunning retro kit to mark 50th anniversary of FA cup victory. Hudson Odoi and Reece James stole the show with an impressive performance the duo linked up brilliantly to cause havoc in the Nottingham camp.                                      Chelsea scored their first goal merely 7 minutes into the game courtesy of  a brilliant goal by Hudson Odoi who showed glimpses of his old form after a staggering run since  coming back from an injury. Nottingham Forest almost found their way into the match after a penalty was awarded against Chelsea only to be denied by the VAR. Ross Barkley soon doubled the lead for Chelsea it was Odoi once again who created problems for Nottingham defence and slotted in a shot which was initially saved by the Nottingham keeper but fell kindly for Ross Barkley who slotted it into the net to make it 2-0

Brighton 1 Chelsea 1 match review

Frustrations began to rise in the Chelsea camp after they dropped 2 important points against Brighton on New year's day  . Chelsea were stunned by a late goal from Alireza Jahanbaksh who scored an extraordinary overhead kick to earn Brighton a hard fought draw. Chelsea's inconsistency has now become a major source of concern for the Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and all the Chelsea fans around the globe.                           Chelsea started the game with the similar ruthless approach that they have adopted this season and got their lead at the 10 minute mark  after Brighton failed to clear a shot from Tammy Abraham inside the penalty box which fell kindly for  Cesar Azpilicueta who blasted it into the net.Chelsea's inability to score more goals have been a major reason behind Chelsea's lack of consistency this season which once again costed them 2 easy points that would have eased the battle for the top 4 a little                            Chelsea pai

Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2 match review

Chelsea stun Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a London derby as they come back from a goal down to score 2 and turn the game around. It was a battle between two very young managers in Frank Lampard and Mikel Arteta and Lampard emerged victorious. Chelsea started the game with a 3-4-3 but eventually crumbled to Arsenal's high press and pace. Emerson's ball watching lead to an Arsenal goal pretty early in the first half as he failed to mark Arsenal talisman Aubameyang who opened the scoring with a brilliant header.                                                Frank Lampard was forced to make a change early on in the first half Emerson was subbed off to bring in Jorginho to switch to a 4-3-3. Lampard showed glimpses of improvement in his in game management with an early change which lead to Chelsea gaining momentum slowly. Jorginho's presence in the midfield brought composure and control to the otherwise chaotic and struggling Chelsea.

Chelsea 0 Southampton 2 match review

Chelsea continue their poor run at home as they suffered yet another blow at the Stamford Bridge on boxing day.Chelsea came into the game with high morale following their win against arch rivals Tottenham. On the other hand Southampton came into the match trying to fight their way out of the relegation zone.Chelsea started the game with a back 3 trying to replicate their performance against Spurs         The blues however looked the second best team throughout the game. Once again the blues struggled to produce goals and lacked creativity in the final third. The visitors were rock solid while defending and were very clinical going forward. The saints took the lead 30 minutes into the game courtesy of a fine finish from Obafemi poor defending from Tomori allowed  the Southampton forward to sprint away and cut the ball into his left foot and Zouma gave  him enough space to hammer one past Kepa.         Frank Lampard switched to a back 4 after the first half taking Zouma out for Maso

Tottenham 0 Chelsea 2 match review

A struggling Chelsea prevailed against Tottenham in a heated London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Frank Lampard faced his former manager Jose Mourinho for the first time in the Premier League and it was the apprentice who got the better of his  master in the London derby. Frank Lampard's flexibility to switch to the back 3 system proved to be decisive                                The 4 man midfield provided Chelsea with the width going forward and Chelsea got their reward early in the game after Willian took a short corner and linked up brilliantly with  Marcos Alonso to slot one past Gazzaniga to make it 1-0 for the visitors.Chelsea doubled their lead towards the end of the first half .A bizarre challenge from Gazzaniga on Alonso resulted in a Chelsea penalty, Willian stepped up to take the penalty and doubled the advantage.                                Tottenham's attackers saw very little of the Chelsea goal as Chelsea centre halves  showed bravery and were r
