Chelsea 0 Southampton 2 match review

Chelsea continue their poor run at home as they suffered yet another blow at the Stamford Bridge on boxing day.Chelsea came into the game with high morale following their win against arch rivals Tottenham. On the other hand Southampton came into the match trying to fight their way out of the relegation zone.Chelsea started the game with a back 3 trying to replicate their performance against Spurs
The blues however looked the second best team throughout the game. Once again the blues struggled to produce goals and lacked creativity in the final third. The visitors were rock solid while defending and were very clinical going forward. The saints took the lead 30 minutes into the game courtesy of a fine finish from Obafemi poor defending from Tomori allowed  the Southampton forward to sprint away and cut the ball into his left foot and Zouma gave  him enough space to hammer one past Kepa.
Frank Lampard switched to a back 4 after the first half taking Zouma out for Mason Mount to add some attacking flare.Chelsea did start the second half well but just couldn't find their way through the Southampton defence. Chelsea were yet again caught on the break and paid the price for their casual defending this time it was Rudiger who failed to stop Armstrong who took a slight touch before spotting Redmond on the left channel who clipped the ball over Kepa to seal the game for the Saints
Shambolic defending and lack of creativity have been Chelsea's key problems this season with just one week for the transfer window to reopen Chelsea now look likely to splurge cash and bolster their squad with new reinforcements.
