Chelsea 2 Lille 1 match review


  A night that Chelsea young guns will never forget a nerve racking game that finally ended in a 2-1 victory for Chelsea. Chelsea,Ajax and Valencia  entered the Game week 6 with their champions league qualification fate in their own hands . It was a must win game for Chelsea to clinch a spot in the Champions league knock out stages . Frank Lampard insisted the team to show some character after their horrific performance against Everton.
                         Chelsea dominated the early stages of the game and got their lead in the 19th minute after Christian Pulisic made another one of his blistering runs through the Lille defence and fed the ball to Willian the Brazilian showed glimpses of his old form with a brilliant cut back cross which was turned in by Abraham with a cheeky backheel finish. Chelsea dominated the match with Kante, Azpilicueta,Willian and Pulisic keeping  the Lille defenders busy throughout the first half by constantly making overlapping runs and putting the ball in wide areas.
                         Chelsea doubled their advantage from a corner as Emerson whipped in a crossto find  Cesar Azpilicueta who made a free run towards the near post to head it past Lille goal keeper to make it 2-0 for the hosts. Chelsea were sailing through  Lille with ease but a game that looked one sided turned into a nerve jangling fixture as former Chelsea striker Loic Remy scored for Lille and all of a sudden Lille had all the momentum in the game constantly making runs through the Chelsea midfield and pushing the ball in wide areas trying to make something happen fortunately for the blues they managed to hold onto their lead and sealed their spot into the final 16. Frank Lampard became the first Englishman to enter the knockout stages of the Champions league as both player and manager. Chelsea now host Bournemouth on Saturday in the Premier league.
