Everton 3 Chelsea 1 match review

Chelsea suffered their 5th defeat of the league at Goodison Park on Saturday . Duncan Ferguson former club legend return to the club as the interim manager after Marco Silva was sacked by the toffee's. The atmosphere in the Goodinson Park was electric and the energy with which the team played reflected the same.High pressing to put Chelsea defence under pressure and to mark Chelsea midfielder's allowing them no free space to dribble past was clearly the plan and it  worked out seemingly well for the home team.
Richarlison got the Toffees off to a flying start scoring a stunning header merely 5 minutes into the game and there was no looking back ever since for Everton .Chelsea were clearly the second best in the fixture with Everton constantly pressing and riding high on confidence after scoring in the initial stages of the game.
They did get their reward as Christensen and Zouma duo had another outing to forget. Christensen tangled  himself in an  attempt to clear the cross failed horribly, Zouma tried to help his partner but was unable to do much about it as Calvert-Lewin took a touch slotted his shot low to make it 2-0 at the 50th minute mark.
Chelsea did pull one back as Digne's clearance found Kovacic 20 yards from the goal who connected a sharp volley with his left foot and slotted it in the left bottom corner beating Pickford's dive to score his second Chelsea goal . Chelsea tried getting back into the match but failed eventually  as their back line made another shambolic mistake. Kepa handed the possession  straight to Theo walcott who released his teammate in the box, Calvert-Lewin kept the attack going with a backheel for Davies. Chelsea tried to scramble a way out but Azpilicueta's clearance was blocked by Calvert-Lewin who slots it towards the goal through Kepa's legs to score the crucial 3rd goal
This match was clearly an indication that Chelsea are still a work in progress and there's still a lot to improve . Defence is surely a major concern for Chelsea as Lampard is yet to identify his ideal back four. With the transfer ban Overturned Lampard might look  to bolster his squad with some defensive reinforcements.
